Sunlove's Haig Road facility is designed as a therapeutic space where residents can focus on their wellness journey. Daily life involves a mix of structured activities, communal dining, and quiet rest. The primary goal of any security system here is to support this routine without making the residents feel restricted or under constant observation.
Staff need to maintain a high level of operational awareness to ensure resident safety, particularly in common areas and at exit points. Managing the transition between public-facing zones and staff-only areas-such as medication rooms and administrative offices-requires a reliable access strategy that prevents unauthorised resident entry while ensuring staff can move freely.
The security need at Sunlove was to provide a "quiet guardian" system. This means 100% visibility for incident review and accountability, coupled with an access control layer that hardens secure zones without introducing complexity for the care team.
| Care Function | Legacy / Initial State | Securevision Installation |
|---|---|---|
| Entry Verification | Manual / Open monitoring | 12-door MicroEngine access control |
| Resident Safety | Staff-dependent sightlines | 24/7 common-area awareness (24 cameras) |
| Medication Security | Locked cabinets / keys | Card-controlled staff-only zones |
| Incident Review | Narrative-only reporting | Digital video audit trail for accountability |
A critical design decision for the Haig Road facility was how to manage the main entrance and lift lobby. The operator needed to ensure that residents could move safely within the facility without the risk of unsupervised egress into the busy Haig Road area.
Securevision recommended a two-tier access strategy. We integrated the MicroEngine platform with the lift controllers to ensure that residents can only access their designated floors, while staff maintain full override capability for all zones using a single credential.
This decision balanced the residents' need for movement with the staff's duty of care, creating a facility that feels open but remains fundamentally secure.
Our approach was driven by the "Dignity Rule"-ensuring that residents feel at home while staff remain fully supported by the technology.
Placed cameras in dining and activity zones to support staff supervision without intruding on private resident rooms.
Identified 12 critical doors (Medication, Server Room, Admin) for strict card-based access to prevent accidental resident entry.
Integrated lift management to ensure resident safety between floors while maintaining easy flow for care teams.
Trained the care management team on rapid footage retrieval to support MSF reporting and internal care planning.
By focusing on these four pillars, we delivered a system that enhances the care experience for everyone at Sunlove.
The final solution is an integrated platform that prioritises resident safety and staff accountability above all else.
24× IP cameras providing comprehensive common-area awareness, enabling staff to respond quickly to any resident needs.
Surveillance & Detection →12× MicroEngine readers protecting staff-only areas and ensuring a secure perimeter at the main facility entry.
Entry Access Control →A centralised NVR and access log provides a single point of truth for incident review and MSF compliance reporting.
Platform & Management →A dignity-led security installation featuring discreet IP surveillance and tiered access control.
Cameras: 24× Hikvision HD IP Dome Cameras.
Recording: Hikvision 32-Channel NVR.
Controllers: 12× MicroEngine Network Access Controllers.
Integration: MicroEngine Lift Access Controller.
Common-area visibility allows the care team to monitor resident wellbeing without constant intrusive presence.
Medication and administrative rooms are now securely isolated, ensuring resident safety and data privacy.
The digital audit trail has simplified the process of providing incident evidence for MSF and care reviews.
In a mental wellness setting, security must never feel like a barrier to care. Our role is to provide staff with "eyes" in common areas and "lock-and-key" control over staff zones, all while ensuring the residents feel respected in their home. The best care-facility security is the one that residents notice through their sense of safety, not through the presence of hardware.
Every project Securevision delivers draws on multiple systems working together - cameras, access control, intercoms, vehicle management, network infrastructure, and platform software. The cards below show the full range of systems we design and install. Each one links to a deeper explanation of how it works, when it is needed, and what to look for when specifying it.
