Standardised, high-definition surveillance rollouts across MY World Preschool centres, ensuring 100% learning zone visibility and full ECDA compliance.
MY World Preschool, operated by Metropolitan YMCA, is a leading provider of early childhood education in Singapore. With a rapidly expanding network of centres, the organisation required a standardised security architecture that could be rapidly deployed across new and existing sites while meeting the stringent child-safety and surveillance requirements set by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).

Early childhood centres operate under intense scrutiny from both regulators and parents. The primary challenge for MY World was the lack of standardisation across their legacy surveillance systems. Different centres had varying camera counts, recording qualities, and retention periods, making it difficult for headquarters to audit safety protocols centrally.
ECDA regulations mandate 100% visibility of all children's learning and activity zones, as well as strict data retention and privacy controls. Any system failure not only compromises child safety but also risks regulatory non-compliance for the operator.
The project required a "blueprint" design that could be adapted for different site footprints-from HDB void decks to standalone centres-while ensuring identical performance and ease of use for the centre principals and staff.
| Security Dimension | Legacy State | Securevision Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Learning Zone Visibility | Partial / Blind spots | 100% HD Digital Coverage |
| Regulatory Compliance | Manual auditing | Automatic ECDA-standard retention |
| Entry Security | Basic surveillance | 24/7 ColorVu entry verification |
| Incident Management | Slow retrieval | Instant multi-channel digital review |
During the pilot site survey, we identified that standard camera placement often missed the low-level activity zones where toddlers spend much of their time. A decision was made to depart from standard corner-mounting in favour of a more dense, low-profile deployment.
Securevision mandated a "dual-view" rule for every learning bay. This ensures that every child is visible from at least two angles, eliminating the risk of obscured activity during play or rest periods-a critical requirement for both child safety and staff accountability.
This standard has now been baked into the MY World security blueprint, providing a level of visibility that far exceeds the minimum regulatory requirements.
Our approach was to create a modular security "kit" that could be deployed rapidly by our engineering teams with zero variation in quality.
Configured camera heights and angles to focus on the child's perspective, ensuring full visibility of floor-level activities.
Pre-configured NVRs with ECDA-mandated retention periods and restricted access protocols to ensure data privacy.
Integrated ZKTeco access control with high-definition entry cameras to manage the flow of parents and visitors.
Designed a simplified monitoring station for centre principals, allowing for quick checks without technical training.
By industrialising the rollout process, we have enabled MY World to upgrade its entire network with a consistent, high-performance safety standard.
The final system provides centre principals and Metropolitan YMCA management with total visibility and peace of mind.
16 to 32 discreet IP cameras per site, providing high-definition coverage of every corner of the preschool environment.
Surveillance & Detection →ZKTeco biometric and card access at the main entry, preventing unauthorised access while supporting parent convenience.
Entry Access Control →Centralised NVR units configured for ECDA-standard data retention with high-level encryption for child privacy.
Platform & Management →A standardised multi-site surveillance architecture designed for educational environments.
Cameras: Hikvision HD IP Dome Cameras.
Recording: Hikvision 16/32-Channel NVR.
Terminals: ZKTeco Access Controllers.
All upgraded sites now meet or exceed ECDA surveillance and data retention mandates.
Standardised hardware has simplified maintenance and staff training across the entire network.
High-definition visibility at entry points and learning zones provides a clear message of safety for families.
In the preschool sector, security is not just about protection-it's about transparency. By standardising the surveillance architecture across MY World centres, we remove the variability that leads to blind spots. When every centre follows the same "blueprint" for child safety, the organisation can move forward with absolute confidence in its duty of care.
Every project Securevision delivers draws on multiple systems working together - cameras, access control, intercoms, vehicle management, network infrastructure, and platform software. The cards below show the full range of systems we design and install. Each one links to a deeper explanation of how it works, when it is needed, and what to look for when specifying it.
