Why Modernisation Was Essential

The MCST council recognised that continuing with patchwork repairs would not solve the underlying loss of control. The decision was made to upgrade into a single integrated system to achieve perimeter integrity, establishing a logged record for every entry event, and establishing total visibility over shared assets.

What were previously fragmented silos of equipment-two intercom systems and three standalone card systems-have now been unified into a single integrated platform. This shift provides centralised control and a singular source of truth for estate management, allowing the council to manage the entire estate security ecosystem from a single cloud dashboard.

Deployed Akuvox X915 panels for main entries and R20A for staircase access, enabling HD video calls and mobile app answering.

2. Credential Hardening

Migrated to encrypted MiFare protocol integrated into the cloud, eliminating the risk of unauthorised card cloning.

3. Full Visibility Surveillance

Strategic deployment of 180° super wide-angle Hikvision cameras to eliminate coverage gaps in common areas and carparks.

4. Industrial Gate Automation

Replacement with an industrial-grade gate motor fully integrated into the unified access control system.
